Partners in Policymaking® is an innovative leadership development program designed to provide information, resources, and skill building to people with developmental disabilities and parents of young children with disabilities so they may have the best possible life experiences for themselves, their children and other people with disabilities.
The goal of Partners is to develop productive partnerships between people who need and use services and those in a position to make policy and law. This is accomplished by providing participants with opportunities to meet and talk to state and national leaders in the field of disabilities. Participants receive information from experts in order to become acquainted with and connected to organizations, opportunities, and the possibilities of living meaningful lives. The program will educate participants about current issues and state-of-the-art approaches, as well as policymaking and legislative processes at local, state, and national levels.
