What is Community NOW!?
Medicaid pays for supports that you need to live the life you want to live.Medicaid is looking at ways that services and supports for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities might be changed. Medicaid has joined a group called Community NOW! that meets in Boise, Idaho to talk about what changes could be made to Medicaid services. Community NOW! meetings are led by adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and family members from around the State. Medicaid staff, the Idaho Council of Developmental Disabilities, Medicaid providers and other stakeholders also come to Community NOW! meetings in Boise.
What will we talk about at these Community NOW! meetings?
On May 29‐31, 2019, and on June 7, 2019, Idaho Medicaid, the Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities, and others will host a training and listening session. The training will include:
1. Community NOW! updates
2. “Understanding Behavior as Communication”
3. “Know Your Rights” ‐ for self‐advocates and their families
4. “Presuming Competence”‐ for families and providers
There will also be a chance for adults with intellectual and developmentaldisabilities and their families to ask questions and talk directly with Medicaid about their experiences with Medicaid services and in relation to the training topics.
